Volunteer Job Descriptions

 
Marshals  
Marshals are used for crowd and noise control, as well as spotting balls throughout the golf course for Tour players.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 60 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 52
 
SHIFT DAYS: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (June 1-4)
TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of two (2) four hour shifts are required to receive volunteer benefits.
DUTIES: Crowd control, controlling noise, ball spotting. Position may involve measuring driving distance for Tour players (instruction provided).
SKILLS REQUIRED: A good eye and understanding of golf is beneficial.
TRAINING: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session before the beginning of the tournament. The committee chair will provide instruction and information sheet for volunteers.
Walking Scoring  
Walking 18 holes with the golfers and keeping track of their scores on a digital device.
STATUS: CLOSED VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 90 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 50
 
SHIFT DAYS: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 1-4).
TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of two (2) four hour shifts are required to receive full volunteer benefits
DUTIES: Walking Scorers - Walk eighteen holes with a group and enter scores.
SKILLS REQUIRED: A knowledge of golf is helpful, but not necessary.
TRAINING: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session before the beginning of the tournament. The committee chair will provide instruction and information sheet for volunteers.
Admissions  
The Admissions committee is responsible for collecting money from the spectators entering the event as well as guest access to the Corporate Chalet. You will be required to answer general spectator and guest questions.
You could be assigned to Admissions, Corporate Chalet and the Pro-Am.

SHIFT DAYS: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 1-4).

DUTIES: Collecting money for ticket sales, ensure the appropriate entrance into the facility of accredited personnel, and answering general questions for attendees and others.
SKILLS REQUIRED: No specific skills required
TRAINING: No special training required. Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session before the beginning of the tournament.
Volunteers  
Members of the volunteer committee assist with the registration of volunteers each day, handing out volunteer materials. Some volunteers may also assist by working the admissions table and other required positions if necessary.

SHIFT DAYS: Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 1-4)
TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of two (2) four hour shifts.
DUTIES: Register volunteers on-site and provide manpower support to all other committees as required.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Flexible, don't mind doing a variety of jobs, enjoy interacting with volunteers
TRAINING: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session before the beginning of the tournament. The committee chair will provide instruction and information sheet for volunteers.
Transportation  
Volunteers on the transportation committee drive players to the course, host hotel and airport. This committee may also be required to transport spectators.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 25 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 27
 
SHIFT DAYS: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (May 28 - June 4).
TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of two (2) four hour shifts are required
DUTIES: Driving golf professionals from hotel and airport to the host course. Driving spectators from parking location to host course. Vehicles are provided.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Valid drivers license.
TRAINING: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session before the beginning of the tournament. The committee chair will provide instruction and information sheet for volunteers.
Caddie Operations  
Interact with the PGA Tour Canada players and caddies as an assistant to the caddie master. In this position you will be responsible for checking-in caddies, gathering, organizing and handing out caddie bibs, collecting caddie registration forms and introducing caddies and players.

SHIFT DAYS: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (May 28 - June 4)
TIME COMMITMENT: 2-4 Hours
DUTIES: Checking-in caddies, gathering, organizing and handing out caddie bibs, collecting caddie registration forms and introducing caddies and players.
SKILLS REQUIRED: No special skills required.
TRAINING: Volunteers will receive orientation and instruction from the caddie master during first shift.
On-Site Activitives  
Pro-Am - registration, on course duties.
Clinic - registration.

SHIFT DAYS: Monday, Tuesday, Saturday.
TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of two (2) four hour shifts are required to receive full volunteer benefits
DUTIES: Registration.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of the Point Grey Golf Course, ability to operate a golf course, golf etiquette to ensure tournament play is not disrupted during on-course service operations.
TRAINING: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session before the beginning of the tournament.
Operations  
Operations volunteers are required to help set-up the course (signage and roping) in advance of the tournament, assist with on-course operations during the tournament week and complete tear-down activities during and following the final round of the tournament.
STATUS: OPEN VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 6 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 9
 
SHIFT DAYS: May 26 - June 4
TIME COMMITMENT: A minimum of two (2) four-hour shifts are required to receive volunteer benefits.
DUTIES: Set-up course signage, roping, and flagging. Assist with tear-down activities on the final Sunday of the tournament. Tournament days - refilling water coolers and fruit stations, volunteer check-in around the course, shuttling volunteers to various locations around the course.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to perform physical labour and follow instructions.
TRAINING: Volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation session before the beginning of the tournament. The committee chair will provide instruction and information sheet for volunteers.
Standard Bearer  
Walking 18 holes carrying the standard bearer holder.
STATUS: closed VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED: 50 CURRENT REGISTRATIONS: 21
 
SHIFT DAYS: Thursday - Sunday
TIME COMMITMENT: TBD
DUTIES: Carrying the standard bearer holder and updating scores after each hole.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Able to carry the standard bearer holder.

Leaderboard  
Updating leaderboard around various positions on the golf course.

DUTIES: Updating scores on the leaderboard that are being report from Scoring Central.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Knowledge of golf.

Runners  
Running scorecards from players to Scoring Central.
